The German Shepherd Dog (GSD, also known as an Alsatian), (German: Deutscher Schäferhund) is a breed of large-sized dog that originated in Germany. German Shepherds are a relatively new breed of dog, whose origins date to 1899. As part of the Herding group, the German Shepherd is a working dog developed originally for herding sheep. Because of their strength, intelligence and abilities in obedience training they are often employed in police and military roles, in forces around the world. Due to their loyal and protective nature, the German Shepherd is one of the most registered of breeds.

rayebee they aren’t all that easily worked with. I have a very dominant, somewhat harder male out of the Czech republic. When you do real world protection, or work with the higher drive, harder ones, training is a lot harder and they take a tremendous amount of training to do it right. I see numerous German Shepherds with behavior problems compared to other breeds, but it all goes to who owns and works with it. But I do agree, with you great animals, and THE best breed ever.

You can’t but fall …
You can’t but fall in love with them. My boy Thor is out training now but he’s coming back home in three days. This is a very strong and noble breed and I have a lot of respect for them.

i HAd a german sheperd, but when i got older, we had to give her away… Shadow was a pup, and HUGE! plus we didnt have space for her in our tiny yard….*siiighhh*

this video is true about GSDs I have had 7 in the last 70years.dont ever have them for a junk yard dog.They are sociable dogs.never hit them.Talk to them sternly.the worst part of owning a GSD is when its time to see good bye.Great video.great animals.

There’s no secret, …
There’s no secret, we treat our pets as like a person. We give her buffered pills everyday and glucosamine pills everyday as well. We hide them in liver sauage. My mom does walk her everyday.

Thats awesome furrychick83!! My German shepherd is 10 going 11 in 2 months. He is an inside dog, and i give him glucosamine treats every day, also excercise him just about every day, he is in excellent shape,, whats the secret you have used to have your dog living a long good life?

my German Shepherd mix pup Molly, Is a joy but she dosen’t Listen to anyone else but me. and She keeps on looking at shadows on the floor or walls. But she is a joy. she just seems really dumb somtimes but then again she still is a pup.

i have a german shepherd but it needs SERIOUS training…hes about 7 months old and he has one ear that wont stand up. he likes to play with our cat and still he need serious training…his name is Neron Hernandez

on my way home from …
on my way home from work,I have to pass through 3 malls.these malls employ bomb sniffing dogs.while walking,a GSD,who was sitting beside his handler,came to me and started licking my foot and my leg.I would have taken the dog home if his handler didn’t restrain him..a sweet “teddy bear”,if you ask me..
