If you did was it worth it- does your dog behave better now?

I have ‘invested’ most of my life from the age of six to obedience training dogs. Even so I always find a class to take my dogs through as it is indispensable to take them through classes. I would never recommend anyone waste their time or money ‘investing’ in someone else training their dog as it is primarily the person that needs the training – it is WAY worth every dog owner to go through obedience classes so they can learn best to interact with and train their dog. It is the BEST thing you can do for you and your dog and your relationship. Anything else you want to do you can skimp on and the dog will be okay but not on obedience training. No book or website or dvd or tv show or anything like that can take the place of you finding and participating fully in a good motivational obedience class.

It was totally worth it. After the classes my dog stopped chewing on everything in the house and jumping up on people when they came into the house.

The key is to do a little research into who is teaching the class and how much experience that person has in training different breeds.

I always take every dog I get to at least a basic obedience class. Yes, even the "mutts". I feel that this is absolutely the best investment any dog owner can make. It was worth it every time. And yes my dogs always behaved better. After so many classes I do know how to train them but the distractions and socialization the the dogs get in class is invaluable.
Do take care to find a good trainer.

Best thing I ever did was take my dog to training classes. I have grown up with dogs all my life but when I adopted a rescue pup it was part of the adoption agreement. My dog is the best trained dog we have ever had, she is so respectful and any problems we have I can talk to the trainer and she gives good advice to overcome the problem.

I know where I went wrong in the past now when treating the dog as a baby, spoiling it and the dog this time is the bottom of the pack and I am pack leader.
