This video is dedicated to all the little dogs in the world who run away from their owners when their owner takes out their harness. The same method of counter conditioning can also be used for dogs that don’t like their muzzle or dogs that don’t like the leash being attached to their collars.

    Nice techniques …
    Nice techniques Emily.
My Jack Russell LOVES her harness and will in fact hate to wear her collar comparing to her harness.

But I am going on vacation tomorrow and my Jack Russell comes with me everywhere, so going on the train, the man only lets dogs with muzzles on.
But she is defiantly not vicious, anyway, I was wondering… Does this video work for wearing a muzzle?
Keep up the good work and thanks. x

Excellent video. I also use layers of tape on the clicker I use inside. My dog was never afraid of the harness, but I always said “harness on” and “harness off” when handeling and these are commands he knows now and he will come to me to let me take it of or put it on when I say these words..

What kind of harness are you using and where did you get it? The harness I’m using keeps slipping off over my dog’s head whenever she pulls back just a little bit.

    could you do some …
could you do some more vids about how to make your dog feel comfortable when touching him? because my dog is really sensitive too. there’s no problem with the harness, though, because we have one, where she doesn’t need to put her head through. but everytime i try to touch her head or shoulders she steps back or starts licking my hands as if she was afraid of being touched :/ of course i could feed her for letting me touch her but i don’t want her to think that everytime i do so she gets a treat

my pup is going thru a apple phase right now. but she will eat just about anything. she is just as reactive to fruit as with meat:) tonight she was doing all sorts of little tricks on her own while begging for a dill pickle. although her attempt was super cute, i didnt give her any, dont want her to get a tummy ache:(

I was waiting for when you were going to replace the clicker with your voice. It can be the same thing, yet allows you to work with both hands when you have a difficult task to teach a dog that has some issues.

In this vid it was …
In this vid it was finely cut up tortilla, tiny tiny bits of pancake that I had had for breakfast, tiny bits of chicken (messy… gross), and bits of kibble broken into tiny pieces that where in a bag with a piece of steak in it so that the kibble infused with the meat flavor. It all depends on what your dog likes. Some dogs dont find tortilla at all interesting. Also remember to keep changing the treats you use or they get bored of them
