I’m adopting a 4yr old and her 8month old pup- what can I do to begin this as soon as they arrive here? Thanks…!
my backyard is fenced in, but I have children and want to have the mess confined to make clean up fast and easy
Put them on a leash when you take them outside to do their business and always take them to the same spot. When they go in the right spot praise them. Soon they can pee off-leash and hopefully will go in the same spot.

Dogs will go where you train them. If you teach a dog to go on news paper when its a puppy thats where it will go. If you teach the dog when its a puppy to only go in the corner of the yard thats where they will go.

start reading all of the doggie doo training sites online that you can……. there is soooooo much to know, what pays off is consistancy…..there are many methods that work…. but you need to find the method that suites your dog……..because you have two to train it will be all the more difficult……But not impossible…….
i have a dog and live in an apartment and mine is trained to use dog litter, it took several monthes of watching my pooch every minute, lots of patience and lots of love…..good luck…..
go to dog training sites dealing with house training….

Take them in the same spot and after a couple weeks see is the dog will go there on its own… if it does then give it a treat! Also.. and please dont think its discusting but have someone pee there haha! I know that so gross but they will cover it up LOL!

You might consider taking them to the spot you choose on a leash and let them go there for several days before letting them out to go on their own.
