    @Snowmanbutt
    Try to get him some toys to interact with him. Show him some confidence. Treats can work. Give him a nice little treat every time he shows signs of wanting to play. =) this will boost up his confidence and petting will be easier.

    I have a yorkie and …
    I have a yorkie and it is possible to structure them and change any unwanted behaviours. My yorkie is allowed on the sofa and sometimes on the bed, but he understand it is very much my decision, if i ever want him off i just have to say off and off he is, full stop, I don’t think there is anything particularly wrong with allowing little dogs on furniture. I do like having him as a lap dog sometimes or to be able to pet him whilst watching tv, but you must be consistent and assertive at all times

    Most dogs of any …
    Most dogs of any breed or type learn much better through positive reinforcement than negative…spanking isn’t an effective tool in most situations…instead, get your dog to understand that visitors are a good thing…perhaps give her a treat any time a visitor comes in, or break out a special toy that she loves ONLY when company is around…eventually she’ll start to associate guests coming over with the positive experience…I would also have the guests interact with her

    Yes, it is very …
    Yes, it is very possible. We did not get our yorkie until he was 1.5 years old and he is extremely smart . He is allowed on the sofa/bed but has also been trained not to get on the bed/sofa when I say. They are so easy to train…I have heard that they can learn up to 6 commands in a day. He had NO training when we first got him and he is a great joy. Be consistent and reward with treats…info from Ceasar Millan’s website on being the pack leader helped a lot. Good luck.

    I just acquired 2 yorkie sisters. They’re both 2 years old and never been properly trained by the previous owner. They’re allowed to sit on the sofa, sleep on human bed and eat randomly. Is it possible to structure them?

    It is more that breeders don’t recommend yorkies for small children due to their small size. Children can accidently hurt the puppies without trying to.

    I complelety agree with Steven and BeTheir Voice. I have a Yorkie and he has never even mouthed anybody, let alone a child. Good puppy training and socialisation is the key to ensure that biting doesn’t happen.

    the way a dog acts …
    the way a dog acts is from the way you brought it up… so if any dog doesn’t get the stimulation and discipline they need, it can be at risk

    their not prone, …
    their not prone, its all about how they are raised. alot of smaller breed dogs are babied and spoiled which leads to dominant, jealous, protective behavior. small breeds tend to get away w/ alot things so it leads to them training the owners.

    Aren’t yorkies …
    Aren’t yorkies prone to biting children? I heard this before. Most people wouldn’t recommend the dog if you have kids.
