First of all there are learning stages of a dog You should be very careful to train your dog.When a dog is a puppy,at this stage what you will teach,it will easily pick it.When it grows bigger it becomes difficult.However I think you should only tech your dog at this stage where it already does licking by showing him some unwanted behavior.I hope it will gradually stop licking.

So this is video is for the people who have been pleading me to re-release it for over a year. Sorry for the delay. However I plan to make a new slick version of how to teach a bombproof stay using clicker training shortly, as I am a perfectionist and this video could be confusing to a new puppy owner. The video will have short easy to understand steps, rather that this video which is more like a rant on using positive punishment. I must say that my beginning videos on youtube did have a hint of irritation and annoyance in them, as it seemed at the time- a couple years back, there were not really any videos on how to teach things with TRUE clicker training, just a mix and match medley of using a clicker and then punishing the dog… I have realized over the years that being annoyed gets you no where, with dog or people, and so, if youll notice, my recent tutorials are less abrasive.

The basics of this technique- Instead of saying eh eh! as you add the distraction and the dog gets up, you are going to CLICK! the dog at the very same moment the distraction happens, telling them YES! For staying there, even in the presence of THAT! then once you are confident your dog will continue staying. Start to delay your click for longer and longer AFTER the distraction has already appeared. NEVER let the dog get the distraction, if they get up, BUT you can let the dog get the distraction AFTER you release them, so you could use a person as a distraction and then the reward for staying could be to go and say hi to the person.

Thanks for watching, and heres a tip: if you are too slow to block your dog from getting to the distraction- have the dog on LEASH and throw the distractions just far enough away that the dog is unable to reach them anyway- at first.

Another Tip:Always make the game increase in difficulty as the dog succeeds, you never want to get suck at the same level, or your dog will train you to stay at that level, they are highly intelligent

Due to many requests, I decided to make a four minute video on how to train your dog to catch a disc using my newest dog, Blitz.

PLEASE NOTE: I mention to be exciting when getting them driven for the disc. During this video, I AM NOT BEING EXCITING enough for a new dog! Be like a Saturday morning cartoon! Blitz is a herding breed and already has a very high level of drive for discs. Also, teaching the dog to go around you before you throw isn’t necessary but I’ve found it easier for new players. It helps the handler have time to throw especially if they have a fast dog. Plus the dog is more like to catch it if they have to chase it not wait in front of it. Don’t get discouraged! It took Flash about a year before he really wanted to play.

Although herding breeds are the most common seen playing, ANY DOG CAN DO THIS! Any breed can catch a disc and is welcome to compete! From Boxers to Poodles to Yorkies, I’ve seen some very different breeds chase Frisbees!
Dogs of all ages can play, too. Dogs younger than 1 and 1/2 year should stay low to the ground and should not be doing a lot of jumping because their bones & plates are still growing. Talk to your vet for more details. If your dog is older(8 yrs+? depends on the breed), then ask your vet if they are in a good enough physical condition to be doing this.

Why take the time to do this with your dog?
-Helps get your dog in shape. If your dog is overweight, you’re cutting out years of their life.
-Can help get you in shape! If you choose to put more into it, you can loose some pounds too!
-Bonding with your dog. Dogs depend on human love and attention. This is a great way for you and your dog to have fun!
-Keep your dog from eating your house. If you have a herding dog, you probably know exactly what I mean.
-Meeting new people! I’ve met people from many parts of the world such as Canada, Hungary, Germany, and Japan.
-There are too many more reasons for me to list :)
