I’ve rescued a street dog I now call ‘Frank.’ He’s a big, black dog, but somehow was either abused or poorly treated. Yet he was trained quite well and is a good listener.

Problem is, Frank has bitten me three times, snarls and growls at me for apparently no reason, and has some kind of mental disorder. I say this because he’s very protective of my other four dogs, will sometimes not let me get close to them; he growls at me when I leash him and even when I say goodnight. And when I walk him he’ll growl at me and act as if he’s walking me.

I don’t understand him. But I won’t abandon him. He has some kind of dominance-aggression disorder, though he will not bite people. If I use force to train him though, he’ll bite me. It’s very strange and I don’t know how to train him.

Yes. But first you have to teach him who is boss and it is not him.

Take a good 2×4 and everytime he jumps on your or tries to bit you, you hit him with the 2×4. He will soon learn that you are boxx and he is not the boss.

My grandfather used to do that with a pair of pliers and would catch the dog right on the end of his nose. It usually only took a couple of times for the dog to learn my grandfather was the boss.

I just got 2 rescue dogs a 7 month old and a 6 month old Great Danes. I need to do some training. Help! What is the best book to buy? Also for names do you like Mindy, Wendy or Tina For the Female?

In my opinion the best e-book so far that I found on the web regarding Dog Training is secrets to dog training.

It will teach you how to train your dog like a professional trainer, so you can have your dog obey you no matter what the situation and solve any specific problems that you may have with your dog – this is truly cutting-edge material!

-Need to stop your dog from trying to fight with other dogs?
-Want to know how to curb your dog’s aggressiveness?
-Sick of having your dog race out the front door?
-Hate having your dog jump up on you?
-Neighbors getting annoyed with your pet’s constant barking?

Do you want your dog to be well behaved around people and other dogs?
AND have them obey all of your house rules… even when you’re not around ?

Remember, dogs know ONLY “dog language”. When they come to live with us, we must teach them our language.

Your dog is always learning. The problem is – how do you get your dog to learn good habits and NOT bad habits?

Dogs understand things very differently to us humans, so frequently when you are training (or even when you think you are NOT training) your dog you are actually making behavior problems worse!

When you see the world through your dog’s eyes you gain a huge advantage in training them to do what you want.

When you understand how your dog thinks – and what he needs to know – the training program is easy to follow.

Most dog obedience training courses rely on punishing your dog whenever he doesn’t listen…

They never reveal proven strategies that show exactly how to make your dog UNDERSTAND what you are communicating to him…

They don’t discuss the most vital part of getting your dog to learn new things! (Which is making sure he understands what you are trying to get him to do!)

You don’t need some 12–week dog obedience training plan where you do almost the same thing each week. This is not the most effective way of training your dog because your dog switches out of learning mode due to him not being used to learning new things!…

You don’t need some “scientifically calculated” dog training program based on hours of repetition that’s impossible to follow (not to mention doesn’t work).

What you need is the fastest and healthiest methods that exist to stop your dog’s behavior problems now!

Whether your dog is a puppy or an adult, it doesn’t matter, you can transform your dog’s behavior. Forget hiring a professional dog trainer and save hundreds of dollars.

Will you be next to change YOUR dog’s behavior?

So we’ve been giving our dogs some obedience training for a few months now, and we have seen some new pups we’re interested in adopting, But we’re worried if it cock up everything we’ve worked for. What’s the likelihood of that happening?

There is a good chance of a new puppy setting your dogs back, yes.
The puppy will have accidents and if they are not cleaned up properly, the scent could encourage your dogs to start peeing in the house.
Also, puppies misbehave, if your dogs see the puppy getting away with normal puppy behavior, they may start to think it’s ok for them to do these things too.

If you do decide to get a puppy, make sure you don’t get all caught up in the puppy and ignore what your older dogs are doing. Continue to practice your obedience with the dogs daily, this will keep it fresh in their minds, when the puppy is ready, include him in the sessions. Training never ends, you need to continue training dogs all throughout their lives to keep them sharp.
You will likely be giving a great deal less attention to your older dogs if you get a puppy. Puppies are a lot of work and require a ton of attention. You may feel bad for your current dogs, but don’t. Don’t let them get away with things you normally wouldn’t just because you feel guilty etc.
Also, make sure your older dogs get the same amount of exercise and mental stimulation as they got before you got the puppy.

I am planning on getting a dog, but I’ve never had one before and I don’t know the first thing about training. I want to train it so it doesn’t end up like my cousin’s dog who jumps all over people and barks at everything. I want my dog to be my buddy so please hook me up with some sort of books to give me the basics of training my new dog right.

In my opinion the best e-book so far that I found on the web regarding dog training is secrets to dog training.
